Nosferatu; Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, 1922

Nosferatu is loosely based on “Count Dracula” by Bram Stoker.

“This German silent film is the first Dracula movie ever made (1922), despite being an off-brand of the original novel.

That’s right, off-brand. The rights to Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula weren’t purchased, so names had to be changed to keep it legal.” (The Northern Light)
